Asari Dokubo: Come to the Battlefield, Witness Our Might - Nigerian Military

Nigerian Military Dares Ex-Militant Leader Asari Dokubo to Face-Off.

The Nigerian military has issued a bold challenge to former militant leader Asari Dokubo, urging him to step onto the battlefield and witness the military’s might. This comes after Dokubo claimed he could shoot down a military helicopter hovering near his residence and boasted of being able to contain the Nigerian military.

Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, dismissed Dokubo’s claims as “laughable” and dared him to enter the battlefield, where he would be swiftly neutralized. Buba emphasized that the military’s primary focus remains on combating terrorists operating across various regions.

 Military’s Response Highlights:

Rebuffing Dokubo’s Claims: Maj. Gen. Buba deemed Dokubo’s assertions as “laughable” and an exaggeration of his capabilities.
Neutralization Warning: Buba warned that Dokubo would be neutralized if he entered the battlefield.
Call to Security Agencies: The military urged relevant security agencies to address Dokubo’s threats.
Prioritizing Counter-Terrorism: The military reaffirmed its commitment to targeting terrorist leadership, having eliminated over 300 commanders in the last three quarters.

Terrorism Focus

The military stressed that its main objective is to combat terrorism, acknowledging that some groups are labeled differently across regions. Maj. Gen. Buba emphasized that these groups are, in fact, terrorists, and the military aims to diminish their fighting capabilities and damage their military potential.

Nigerian Army Confirms Emergence of New Terrorist Group "Lukarawas" in Northwest

Nigerian Army Battles New Terror Group, Lukarawas, in Northwest.

The Nigerian Army has confirmed the emergence of a new terrorist group, Lukarawas, in the northwest region of the country. Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, announced this during a briefing in Abuja on Thursday, November 8.

According to Buba, Lukarawas originated from the Republic of Niger following the coup that disrupted military cooperation between Nigeria and Niger. The group exploited the cooperation gaps and difficult terrain to infiltrate remote areas in northwest states, spreading their ideology.

Initially, locals accepted the group, believing they meant well. However, they failed to report the group’s movements to military and security agencies. Troops are currently working to locate and eliminate the threat.

This development highlights concerns about rising insecurity in northwest Nigeria, where terrorist groups like Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) and Jama’at Nusrat al Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) are already active.
