Nigerian Army Debunks Report of Soldier Attack in Ehime Mbano
Nigerian Army Debunks False Reports of Attack on Soldiers in Ehime Mbano.
The Nigerian Army’s 82 Division has dismissed reports circulating online claiming that troops deployed at the Ehime Mbano Local Government Secretariat were attacked, resulting in casualties. According to Lieutenant-Colonel J.E. UNUAKHALU, these reports are baseless fabrications spread by IPOB/ESN elements aiming to undermine public confidence in Imo State and the South East region.
Recall that on October 3, 2023, IPOB/ESN destroyed the Isiala Mbano LGA Headquarters, built with public funds. A similar attempt was made at the Ehime Mbano LGA Secretariat on October 8, 2024, but was thwarted by the swift response of the troops. The attackers, who fired sporadically, were forced to retreat due to the overwhelming firepower of the vigilant troops.
During a follow-up operation on October 9, 2024, bloodstains on the Ehime Mbano-Oriagwu road confirmed that the dissidents suffered heavy casualties.
The Nigerian Army urges the public to disregard false information and remain committed to protecting citizens and critical infrastructure in Imo State. IPOB’s actions are deemed cowardly and self-serving, rather than acting in the people’s interest.
Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities via the toll-free line 193 (Option 2). The Nigerian Army assures the public of their continued vigilance in protecting the nation and its citizens.
