Niger Police Arrest Suspected Bandit, Recover AK-47 Rifle, Rescue Kidnapped Victim [Photos]

Police Nab Suspected Bandit, Rescue Kidnapped Victim in Niger State.

In a significant breakthrough, the Niger State Police Command has apprehended a suspected member of a bandit group in Gurara Local Government Area and rescued a kidnapped victim. The suspect, 22-year-old Samaila Saidu, confessed to participating in various robberies, cattle rustling, and kidnappings, including working with the notorious Kachalla group for over two years.

 Suspect’s Confession

During interrogation, Saidu revealed his involvement in multiple crimes in areas such as Mangoro Sarkin-Pawa, Garun-Gabas, Bena Kotonkoro, and the attack on Kagara town. He is currently under investigation and cooperating with the police to uncover and curb further banditry activities.

 Daring Rescue Operation

In a separate incident, police received a report of a kidnapping at Takuma village, Mokwa area, where one person was abducted and another shot. A combined team of police and vigilantes trailed the suspects to Kpakiko forest, engaging in a gun duel that neutralized three kidnappers. One AK-47 rifle with three live ammunition was recovered, and the victim was rescued.

 Ongoing Investigation

The police are working tirelessly to apprehend fleeing gang members and conclude investigations. This success follows previous rescues of kidnapped victims in Niger State, including nine persons rescued by the police and 15 victims rescued in a separate operation.

The Niger State Police Command’s efforts demonstrate their commitment to combating banditry and ensuring public safety.

MOB JUSTICE TURNS DEADLY: Alleged Motorcycle Thief Crushed to Death in Abuja.

A suspected motorcycle thief met a grisly end yesterday while attempting to flee from an angry mob in Gawu, Abaji Area Council.

Eyewitness Account

Danlami Ibrahim, a witness, recounted the events leading to the tragic incident. “Around 4:12 pm on Wednesday, the suspect stole a motorcycle from a farm in Mawogi village. The owner raised an alarm, prompting youths to chase him.”

Fatal Accident

As the suspect approached Gawu village, he recklessly crossed the expressway and was struck by a vehicle. Despite being apprehended alive by the mob, vigilantes intervened, taking him to Gawu Babangida Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.

Police Confirmation

A Gawu division police officer, speaking anonymously, confirmed the incident. “The deceased’s relatives collected his body. We recovered the stolen motorcycle, which was damaged, and impounded the vehicle involved.”
