Edo Police Station Set Ablaze Amid Kidnapping Controversy [Video]

Edo Police Station Set Ablaze Amid Kidnapping and Killing Outrage.

Residents of Agenebode, Edo State, have taken to violent protests, burning down a police station and several business centers, following the kidnapping and killing of a young man despite a ransom payment. The community’s anger stems from allegations that suspected Fulani herdsmen are involved in organ harvesting and receive protection from the police.

 Incident Sparks Violence

The incident began with the kidnapping of a young boy, whose ransom was paid but was still killed. Youths tracked the suspect’s phone to the head of the Fulani community, leading to a confession of multiple kidnappings and killings. The discovery of shallow graves and human remains in the Fulani leader’s compound further fueled the outrage.

 Community Demands Justice

A local youth expressed frustration, stating, “Enough is enough. This must stop. The police kill our children and still collect money from us.” The community is demanding an end to the alleged police complicity and kidnappings.

 Authorities Respond

The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Arungwa Udo, and Commissioner of Police, Nemi Edwin-Iwo, have visited the area to restore order and assess the situation.

 Tensions Remain High

The incident highlights the growing concerns over kidnapping and organ harvesting in Nigeria, with many calling for increased police accountability and protection for vulnerable communities.

 Eyewitness Accounts

A witness described the chaotic scene: “The youths were angry and frustrated. They stormed the police station, took the suspect, and made him confess. The discovery of human remains in the Fulani leader’s compound was the final straw.”

 Police Response Under Scrutiny

The Edo State Police Command has faced criticism for its handling of the case. “The police should have acted sooner,” said a community leader. “We demand justice for the victims and their families.”

 Authorities Vow Action

The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Arungwa Udo, promised to investigate the allegations and ensure those responsible face justice. “We will leave no stone unturned,” Udo said.

 Community Calls for Peace

As tensions remain high, community leaders urge calm and restraint. “We must work together to find a solution,” said a local elder. “Violence only leads to more suffering.”

The burning of the Edo police station underscores the escalating frustration and anger among Nigerians over the persistent kidnapping and killing of innocent citizens, despite ransom payments. The alleged involvement of Fulani herdsmen and perceived police complicity have fueled community outrage. As authorities investigate and promise action, the incident highlights the urgent need for effective security measures, police accountability, and community engagement to address the kidnapping epidemic and organ harvesting concerns plaguing Nigeria.
