NDLEA Nabs 2 Businessmen, Canadian Nurse for Cocaine, Loud Smuggling
Lagos Airport Sees Triple Arrests for Cocaine and Cannabis Trafficking.
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested three individuals at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos for attempting to import and export cocaine pellets and parcels of Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis.
The Suspects
- Ihejirika Okechukwu Emmanuel: A 51-year-old businessman who frequently visits Thailand, claiming to import fish into Nigeria. He was arrested on October 15, 2024, while boarding an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Thailand. A body scan revealed ingested cocaine, and he expelled five egg-sized wraps weighing 400 grams under observation. Emmanuel confessed he was to be paid upon successful delivery in Thailand to boost his fish importation business.
- Iwuagwu Ikedi Victory: A 26-year-old businessman arrested on October 17, 2024, coming from Brazil via Addis Ababa. His body scan revealed ingested cocaine, and he excreted a 22-gram pellet under observation. Victory confessed to ingesting 30 wraps in Brazil, excreting 29 pellets in Addis Ababa, and being paid N2.5 million for trafficking.
- Usman Grace Khadijat Olami: A Canada-based Nigerian nurse arrested on October 4, 2024, during inward clearance of Air France passengers from Toronto. Seventy parcels of Canadian Loud, weighing 35.70 kg, were recovered from her luggage. Olami claimed she was meeting her boyfriend, who instructed her to bring the synthetic cannabis.
Investigation and Confessions
NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy Femi Babafemi stated that the suspects confessed to their crimes. Ihejirika Okechukwu Emmanuel needed money to boost his fish import business, while Iwuagwu Ikedi Victory expected a N2.5 million payout. Usman Grace Khadijat Olami claimed her boyfriend instructed her to transport the synthetic cannabis.

MOB JUSTICE TURNS DEADLY: Alleged Motorcycle Thief Crushed to Death in Abuja.
A suspected motorcycle thief met a grisly end yesterday while attempting to flee from an angry mob in Gawu, Abaji Area Council.
Eyewitness Account
Danlami Ibrahim, a witness, recounted the events leading to the tragic incident. “Around 4:12 pm on Wednesday, the suspect stole a motorcycle from a farm in Mawogi village. The owner raised an alarm, prompting youths to chase him.”
Fatal Accident
As the suspect approached Gawu village, he recklessly crossed the expressway and was struck by a vehicle. Despite being apprehended alive by the mob, vigilantes intervened, taking him to Gawu Babangida Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.
Police Confirmation
A Gawu division police officer, speaking anonymously, confirmed the incident. “The deceased’s relatives collected his body. We recovered the stolen motorcycle, which was damaged, and impounded the vehicle involved.”
