NDLEA Seizes N7 Billion Worth of Opioids at Apapa and Onne Seaports

NDLEA Seizes N7 Billion Worth of Opioids at Nigerian Seaports.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a significant bust, seizing over N7 billion worth of opioids at Apapa and Onne seaports. The haul includes 162,351 bottles of codeine-based syrup from Apapa seaport and 7.2 million pills of Royal 225mg Tapentadol and Carisoprodol worth N3.6 billion from Onne seaport.

Other notable seizures include:

  • Opioid Pills: 780 cartons of chlorphenamine containing 15.6 million pills from Onne seaport
  • Codeine-Based Syrup: 337,000 bottles worth N2.359 billion from Onne seaport
  • Tramadol Pills: 76,600 pills concealed in a vehicle in Bauchi state
  • Cannabis Sativa: 672kg seized from three suspects in Ondo state
  • Cannabis Destruction: 10,590.36kg destroyed in Edo state
  • Methamphetamine: 3kg and 1.90kg cannabis seized in Lagos, with 241kg recovered in Badagry area

These seizures demonstrate the NDLEA’s intensified efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse in Nigeria.

  • Methamphetamine: 265 grams and precursor chemicals seized from suspected meth cook, Agbeiboh Oscar, in Lagos.
  • Cannabis: 241 kg recovered in Gbaji, Badagry area of Lagos.

 Arrests

  • Sunday Jonathan Ogenyi, 33, arrested with 76,600 tramadol pills in Bauchi.
  • Goddey Obizuo, Samuel Aniete and Kuffrey Aniete arrested with 672 kg cannabis sativa in Ondo.
  • Benson Upuoni, 65, and Sunday Nwaeboyi, 35, arrested during cannabis destruction operation in Edo.
  • Andrew Joseph Anoriode arrested with 3 kg methamphetamine and 1.90 kg cannabis in Lagos.
  • Agbeiboh Oscar arrested as suspected meth cook in Lagos.

MOB JUSTICE TURNS DEADLY: Alleged Motorcycle Thief Crushed to Death in Abuja.

A suspected motorcycle thief met a grisly end yesterday while attempting to flee from an angry mob in Gawu, Abaji Area Council.

Eyewitness Account

Danlami Ibrahim, a witness, recounted the events leading to the tragic incident. “Around 4:12 pm on Wednesday, the suspect stole a motorcycle from a farm in Mawogi village. The owner raised an alarm, prompting youths to chase him.”

Fatal Accident

As the suspect approached Gawu village, he recklessly crossed the expressway and was struck by a vehicle. Despite being apprehended alive by the mob, vigilantes intervened, taking him to Gawu Babangida Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.

Police Confirmation

A Gawu division police officer, speaking anonymously, confirmed the incident. “The deceased’s relatives collected his body. We recovered the stolen motorcycle, which was damaged, and impounded the vehicle involved.”
