Police Corruption Exposed: Abia Officers Demand N100,000 Bribe from Arrested Company Employees

Alleged Bribery Rocks Abia Police Command.

A shocking bribery scandal has unfolded at the Aba Area Command in Abia State, Nigeria, where two police personnel, Investigating Police Officer (IPO) Uche and her superior officer, Akudo Ogbonna, are accused of demanding N100,000 each from 10 workers of Livestock Feeds, a chicken feed production company, following allegations of theft without investigation.

The workers were arrested and detained since Friday after the company reported missing raw materials. Despite concluding investigations without establishing any theft, the police allegedly demanded N600,000 to release the workers. Four workers were released after paying the bribe, while six remain in detention.

A relative of one of the arrested workers condemned the police action, stating, “They were wrongly accused without investigation. The police are extorting innocent Nigerians.”

Area Commander Kayode Ajayi confirmed the arrest but denied knowledge of the bribery allegations, promising to address the issue.
