A tragic incident occurred in Ondo State, Nigeria, where a 34-year-old man, Monday Chukwu, allegedly stabbed his friend, Kefa Ofando, 30, to death over a ₦2,000 debt. The altercation took place at Akintola village in the Odigbo local government area.

According to reports, Ofando had borrowed ₦2,000 from Chukwu, which led to an argument when Chukwu demanded repayment. The dispute escalated into a physical fight, resulting in Chukwu stabbing Ofando in the neck with scissors.
Police Investigation and Response
The Ondo State Police Command promptly responded to the incident, arresting Chukwu on September 20, 2024. State Commissioner of Police, Oladipo Abayomi, confirmed that investigation revealed the debt as the motive behind the stabbing. Abayomi emphasized the importance of staying calm and avoiding violence, especially in times of anger or pressure.

The police recovered the scissors used in the attack, and a medical practitioner confirmed Ofando’s death. Chukwu will face charges in court upon conclusion of the investigation.
