On January 15, 2025, the atmosphere at the ABI Local Government Council Secretariate was thick with awe and dignity, as the Executive Chairman of ABI Hon. Egbala Bassey led a poignant commemoration of Nigeria’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day, a heartfelt tribute to the country’s brave veterans

According to Eloi Ideba the Chief Press Secretary to Hon. Egbala, the event, a solemn occasion, brought together a vast array of distinguished dignitaries, security personnel, traditional rulers, and community members, all united in honoring the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes and servicemen.

As the morning sun bathed the scene, Hon. Bassey took to the stage with words that echoed and immersed deeply in the hearts of all present, he spoke of the courage etched in history of soldiers who fought in the World Wars, the Civil War, and peacekeeping missions. In the Chairman’s words, “Today, we stand because of their courage and unfaltering dedication to our nation’s peace,” he said, breathing life into their sacrifices.

With a solemn gesture, the Chairman inspected the parade, eyes fixed on the brave men and women served and continued to serve, laid a wreath, symbolizing respect and commitment. He also made a generous donation to the Nigerian Legion, Abi LGA chapter, assuring continued support for veterans’ welfare.

Hon. Bassey urged security personnel to stay resolute in their mission to protect lives and properties, vowing to strengthen security efforts for a safer Abi LGA. His words reflected his commitment to peace and unity.

The event served as a powerful reminder of the collective responsibility to honor the fallen, support the living, and unite for a peaceful future.
